My Crochet Finish...Finally!

Some of you who have been following me for a while may know that I started making a crochet doll about 4 years ago. The aim was to make it for my friend's daughter, P, ready for the arrival of her baby brother. I did get the doll ready, but she had no clothes - not ideal.

Fast forward 4 years; P and her brother A are now awaiting the arrival of another baby. And the doll is finally finished! On the brightside, there are now 2 children who are going to benefit from the gift. It also feels so nice to provide something for them when there is going to be a lot of attention on their new sibling.

I left the face til last. There is no mouth as the design doesn't have one. Plus, the more facial features I add, the more chance for creating a wonky face!

Without further ado, here she is:

I used patterns from 'My Crochet Doll' by Isabelle Kessedjian. There have been some mild inventions by me: I made the robe by adapting a red riding hood pattern from the book - P is reading Harry Potter and I thought it would be great to have a Hogwarts uniform! The blue dress is a longer version of one from the book - another nod to Harry Potter, or more specifically Hermione's Yule Ball dress (I know that doesn't make sense to everyone!). The sari was also a creation by me.

I am so excited to hand this all over!!

What a great "big siblings" gift. They will have many hours of fun. I agree about the face - sometimes less is enough.

They are going to be so excited! Ithink no mouth is a good idea since they will have to use their imagination to express how the doll feels. I love her striped dress!

I think she is adorable, I do not crochet but love the look of no mouth on her and she has a wardrobe now.

She is a lovely doll and I like the idea of theming some of her clothes too.
