A Bit of an Obsession

As you all know, I have been working on the cross-stitch version of Thomas Kinkade's Beauty and the Beast cross-stitch.

When I first came across it, there were 4 other designs I really liked, so I put them on my wishlist for family to buy. Over the years, I have been given all but one. I then found out that the cross-stitches are no longer being made, and I still didn't have one of my favourite pieces. Luckily, last week I came across the final design kit on Etsy, and I was able to complete my collection:

The Little Mermaid

Sleeping Beauty

Cinderella

And the one to complete the collection - Peter Pan

Oh, and I bought a colouring book and calendar, because not all his artwork has been transferred into a cross-stitch pattern.

Only a tiny bit obsessed, right?

2018 Crafting Goals

I have decided not quite to make New Year Resolutions this year, but crafting goals instead (I have taken inspiration from some other blogs!). In my usual prompt style, I have finally gotten around to posting this by the end of January

Thinking about the goals, I suddenly seemed to have hundreds of things I wanted to do and finish, which was fine but not realistic. I have picked a few, and put them into a couple of categories. Hopefully this will make it a bit more manageable (and allow for other projects to sneak in).

So, here they are:

To Finish:
  • Beauty and the Beast cross-stitch
  • Baby quilt for work colleagues (by February)
  • Crochet doll and dress-up clothes

To Learn:
  • How to embroider
  • How to English Paper Piece

Would Like to Work On:
  • Beauty and the Beast material
  • Mug Rugs

This feels very manageable - watch this space!

FNSI January 2018 - and a bit of a finish!

It was so lovely joining Wendy and everyone else for the first FNSI of the year! Although I fell asleep early in the evening, so it had to be a SNSI instead!

In the run up to FNSI, I managed a bit of a finish (which some of you guessed!)

And yes, I even took a photo of the last stitch going in - finally!!!

For FNSI I started work on the outlining. It's subtle but will be really effective when it's all complete.

I hope everyone else had a lovely FNSI, and hope over to Wendy's here to find out what everyone else did.

A Foxy Gift

For a Christmas gift, I decide to branch out my sewing skills and make a bag for my sister-in-law.

She rather likes foxes, and I came across this lovely fabric at the Duxford Quilting show - it seemed like a sensible idea to get it!

A bag seemed like a pretty logical thing to make, and it really was. I used a bag my friend made me as a bit of a guideline (had to stop myself pulling it apart once or twice!). I also used a website called Molliemakes for a bit of guidance as well.

I'm pretty pleased with the results, although perhaps the bag is a bit wide for the size handles I made, but hopefully it's okay!

FNWF Jan 2018

I actually managed to remember it was the first Friday of the month and joined in with FNWF! (Although I have been ill this week which is why I have taken so long to post!)

Unsurprisingly to some, my evening was spent working on my lovely Beauty and the Beast cross-stitch. And by evening, I mean Friday and Saturday evening was spent working on it.

I did get a fair bit done so I am pleased!

A few days later, I filled in the final edge cross! (A bit blurry, but I thought I should picture the momentous occasion!)

Looking forward to catching up on what everyone else did.

And Continuing the Rainbow Theme...

One of my best friends is expecting a baby, which means only one thing - time for a baby quilt! This one was easy to pick fabric for - I h...
